Types of Lamps

Differences Between LED and Incandescent

Incandescent lamps burn very hot and use a considerable amount of energy to run. While LEDs use significantly less energy, they also absorb all the heat produced into a heat sink. Which is then dissipated into the surrounding environment. This prevents many performance issues you may run into when using incandescent lamps, such as overheating and burning out. 
LED lamps are not hot to the touch, unlike incandescent lamps which get very hot! Managing the temperature at which the LEDs are operated determines the performance of an LED lamp over its life span. The higher the temperature is when the LED lamp is operating, the more quickly the light will degrade. Thermal management is imperative to the life of an LED bulb.
